Friendsgiving

A while back I told Jonathan that I wanted to get our friends together and have Thanksgiving dinner together. So I came up with the idea of Friendsgiving! On Saturday night we had our closest friends over and it ended up being such a great time! We had 10 people together in our little basement apartment but it all worked out. Everyone contributed to dinner and dessert so it wasn't so stressful. We love our friends so much and wish we could be with them more often but life gets hard to get everyone together that often. Hopefully it will be a continued tradition for years to come. We might have to rent out a church one year!

Disney On Ice

I came home from work last Wednesday night to tickets to Disney On Ice! I know I am a grown woman but I think my heart will always be young. Atleast for anything Disney it will be. This is probably the closest I get to Disneyland for a while but it was magical too. The first half was Cars, The Little Mermaid and Tinkerbell. The second half was Toy Story 3. They get better and better each time. Thanks for the fun date night, Jonathan! We love Disney!

Thanksgiving Tree!

I love Halloween. I love getting creative to dress up and go to fun parties with good food and fun games. I love carving pumpkins and going to corn mazes. I love that it is when the weather changes and I can pull out my scarves and boots. But there is something in me that changes completely when I wake up November 1st! We know there are two types of people after Halloween, the ones who don't want Christmas until after Thanksgiving and the ones who think it's Christmas already. I am the latter. It's not that I don't want to skip Thanksgiving because I LOVE it, I just feel that Thanksgiving for what it is and what we celebrate it very similar to Christmas. I feel like the last two months after Halloween into the new year is "The Holidays" and is all together in some sort.

Anyway, year by year I have put up my christmas tree earlier and earlier in November. This year I put it up on November 1st. You can't get any earlier than that! Instead of putting up my all my Christmas decorations, I put up a Thanksgiving Tree! My husband and I went to Michael's just to see what decorations we could use to make it look like Thanksgiving. Lucky us went on the right day to get 40%-80% off everything we bought. We came home with a roll of burlap and orange sheer ribbon, orange and gold flowers and bows, gold sparkly thingamabobs, (I don't know what they are) and plastic pumpkins and leaves.

After putting it up it still has kind of a Christmas feel, especially with the lights on, but we both love it! We were watching T.V. the other night while it was one and Jonathan said, "There is just a different feel with it set up." He nailed it. I think that's why I love putting it up so early. It changes my mood and my mind set and I guess for Jonathan too. So I don't care what anyone says about us having our tree up, we are happier! And now we have a new tradition.

These are the plastic pumpkins that are resting in
the tree. I took the tree picture before these were in.

Side note: here is a reversible block craft my mom and sister-in-law made
together for the holidays. So fun and a great idea.

This is the thingamabob. I don't know what it is but
it gave the look I wanted!
